Metabolic Profiling...
Do you know how efficient you are at utilizing fat as fuel?
Are you a fat burner or a sugar burner?
Do you know your aerobic base level and your Anaerobic Threshold?
If you do not know the answers to these questions, i can categorically say that you are underperforming as an athlete, as you are simply basing your preparation on guesswork
Metabolic Profiling takes away the uncertainty and eliminates guesswork, helping you to fulfill your potential.
Whether a novice or experienced athlete, wanting to perform your best, you will know that your performance is down to an effective training programme. A simple scientific assessment allows your metabolic profile to be captured and that information will produce your individual profile. Your profile will show you the heart rate where you reach your anaerobic threshold - vital to the improvement of performance, it will tell you about your aerobic base how wide your base is and how aerobically efficient you are as well as the exact amount of calories you need to consume to fuel up for your training. it will also give a measured, not estimated, VO2 score.
This information enables Nutrafit to prescribe training programmes to get real results.
The science behind Metabolic Profiling
Metabolic Profiling is based on decades of medical research and proven scientific know how. By boosting your metabolism, athletic performance goals are achieved more easily.
Metabolism is the body’s way of converting food into energy, and then using that energy to sustain and build the body.
The body needs fuel, fuel comes from calories in food: fats, carbs, proteins. The body uses each source differently and excess calories are stored in different ways. Fat is the most efficient source of fuel but a body’s also has unlimited capacity to store it. Calories as you know are burned through activity, digestion and resting metabolism. After we have eaten the body uses oxygen to convert food into energy, the by product is waste - carbon dioxide. At our most efficient - the body uses greater amounts of oxygen to convert more food into useable fuel (the fat burns first), less carbon dioxide is produced as waste and less of our fuel ends up stored as fat.
Your metabolic Profile is like a metabolism fingerprint which is unique to every individual.
Nutrafit Metabolic Profiling measures both the oxygen levels and the carbon dioxide levels in your breath, analyzing what you breathe in and what you breath out,
With an accurate measure of both oxygen and carbon dioxide, you get a clear picture of your body’s complete fuel composition. That is, you know exactly when you’re burning the energy-dense fat fuel as opposed to when you’re burning the less-efficient carbohydrate fuel. You know the precise heart rate you need to work up to, and how long you should exercise at that intensity.
/>What is involved with the assessment?
- Setting up on the equipment
- A 15 - 30 minute resting assessment, sitting down
- A 15 - 30 minute active assessment, on whatever cardio piece of equipment is preferred
- A Metabolic Profile Consultation - where your results are explained, and a unique cardio programme is written for you
It is important to ensure accurate results that individuals being assessed do not eat or drink anything but water for 8 hours before the assessment, and do not train in the 24 hours prior to the assessment.
What will i get from the assessment?
Each individual that undertakes the Metabolic Profile Assessment will get a Nutrafit Metabolic Profile pack, which will include an introduction letter, a questions and answers sheet, nutritional guidance plan, a report of your assessment results, a full 12 week cardio programme based on your results, and a break down explanation of the results and the training programme. An additional Resistance programme is also available if required.
Individuals will be advised when to book in for their next test which will review their progress and set their next training plan. (not included in initial pricing). Metabolic Profiling / Training should be seem as an ongoing service not just a one off assessment and training plan. Your body changes especially with our tailored plan. It will become more efficient, improving on your key markers and your original training plan will no longer be effective. To continue to improve performance and condition your body you will need to continue to assess and reset programmes according to the new improved markers.
What can Metabolic Profiling benefit me?
- Improve your aerobic base and efficiency
- Move your anaerobic threshold higher
- Train your body to burn fat as a preferred fuel
- Help your body perform under less stress
- Help your body recover quicker Avoid over training and its negative effects
- Improve performance
- Improve body composition
With this valuable information and correct training regime your body will make adaptations which will improve your aerobic capacity and efficiency, help move your anaerobic threshold higher and train your body to burn fat as a preferred fuel. With an efficient aerobic base and improved anaerobic threshold your body will be performing under less stress, and at the times you do work above your threshold your body will recover quicker. If too much of your training is spent at or above your threshold you may find your fitness level plateau’s or may even decrease, the metabolic assessment will help you prevent the negative effects of over training.
